Overview

With NCAA Football absent for a decade, a comprehensive overhaul is needed for any revival. Past issues, including Navigation Complexity, Limited Presentation Dynamism, and an Absence of Realistic Storylines, hindered user experience. To ensure success in the UI/UX project, I focused on streamlining navigation, enhancing visuals, and introducing captivating narratives for a more intuitive, dynamic, and immersive gaming experience.

Problems

  • Navigation Complexity- Past NCAA Football games suffered from convoluted menu structures and unintuitive navigation, making it challenging for players to find and access specific features or game modes.

  • Limited Presentation Dynamism- The presentation style in previous games lacked dynamism, resulting in a repetitive and unexciting visual experience.

  • Absence of Realistic Storylines-The career mode lacked engaging and realistic  storylines, failing to immerse players.

Proposed Solution

  • Implement a streamlined and user-friendly navigation system. Group related features together logically, utilize clear icons and labels, and provide easy access to frequently used options. A well-designed main menu and submenus will guide users effortlessly to their desired destinations.

  • Incorporate broadcast-style graphics and overlays to mirror the excitement of live television broadcasts, creating a more engaging and visually stimulating gaming experience.

  • Develop dynamic storylines that reflect the challenges faced by college football players. This includes handling controversies, pursuing coaching milestones, and navigating recruitment dramas. By introducing compelling narratives, players become more invested in the career mode over the long term.

User Flow

I designed a user flow using Figma to showcase how a player will navigate through the game. I highlighted the key navigation points, emphasizing that this is a demonstration, and only the main features are illustrated.

Design System

Design system NCAA 24.png

I formulated a visual design system for the branding of NCAA Football 24. I opted for a clean and straightforward approach in typography and icons to facilitate user navigation. Recognizing the prevalence of bright colors in past NCAA video games, I chose a darker and grungier palette while maintaining a clean aesthetic. The primary objective of this design system was to strike a balance between simplicity and cleanliness, ensuring that the interface is both functional and visually appealing.
